What is sentence?


 SENTENCE 

What is sentence?
 Generally, “A group of words which makes a complete sense is called sentence”.

PATTERNS OF SENTENCE

1. Pattern of Sentence in Hindi
Subject (कर्ता) +Object (कर्म) + Verb (क्रिया)
e.g. =राम    +    खाना    +    खा रहा है।

2. Pattern of Sentence in English
Subject (कर्ता) +Object (कर्म) + Verb (क्रिया)
e.g. =Ram + is eating + the food.

Subject
The subject answer the question: - who?

Verb
Verbs tell something about subject.

Object
The object answer the question:-what or whom?

PART OF SENTENCE
Every sentence has two parts i.e:-
1) Subject
2) Predicate

1) Subject
 A person and thing about which something is said is known as subject.

2) Predicate
Something which is said about subject is called as predict.

e.g.
Ram is eating the food.

Generally sentence is five types. I.e:-
1) Assertive or Declarative Sentence
2) Interrogative Sentence
3) Imperative Sentence
4) Optative Sentence
5) Exclamatory Sentence

1) Assertive or Declarative Sentence
A sentence that makes a statement or declaration is called assertive sentence.

a)Affirmative Sentence
A sentence which states something which shows affirmation is called affirmative sentence.
e.g.
Ram is an intelligent boy.

b)Negative sentence
A sentence which, states something which shows denial is called negative sentence.
e.g.
 Ram is not an intelligent boy.

2) Interrogative sentence
A sentence which ask question or inquires about something is called interrogative sentence.

Interrogative sentence are of two types.

a)Sentence starting with “Helping verb”.
e.g.
i)Is Rabi an honest boy?
ii)Will Ram be reading?

Sentence starting with “Question mark”.
e.g.
i)Who is your headmaster?
ii)What is your name?

3) Imperative sentence
A sentence which shows order, advice, suggestion, prohibition and request is called imperative sentence.
e.g.
i)Come here. (Order)
ii)Please, shut the door. (Request)
iii)Don’t smoke. (Prohibition)

4) Optative sentence
A sentence which shows a wish, a blessing or prayer is known as optative sentence.

These types of sentence start with Wish and may.

May से प्रारंभ होने वाले optative sentence के अंत में विस्मयादिबोधक चिन्हा (!)लगते हैं।
e.g.
i)Wish you happy journey. (Blessing)
ii)Wish his best of luck. (Blessing)
iii)May god help you! (Prayer)
iv)May you live long! (Wish)

5) Exclamatory sentence
A sentence which shows mental passion, thoughts, sudden feeling of mind is known as exclamatory sentence.

Exclamatory sentence के अंत में विस्मयादिबोधक चिन्हा (!)लगते हैं।
e.g.
i)  Hurry (वाह वाह!)! Our team has won the match.
ii)Oh (ओह!)! Anil is here.
iii)Alas (ओफ!)! Many people died in Mumbai.
iv)What a good boy Ram is! 
v)How slow they are walking!
